YARDLEY PLAYERS THEATRE COMPANY IS HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE AUDITIONS FOR "ANNIE GET YOUR GUN".

 

DATES: SATURDAY, AUGUST 28, AND SUNDAY, AUGUST 29, FROM 12 NOON TO 4 P.M.

 

PLACE: KELSEY THEATRE (CM BUILDING BEHIND THEATRE)

                 MERCER COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

                 1200 OLD TRENTON ROAD

                 WEST WINDSOR, NEW JERSEY

 

DATES OF PERFORMANCES: NOVEMBER 19, 20, 26, 27 AT 7:30 P.M. AND NOVEMBER 20, 21, 27, 28 AT 2:00 P.M.

NEEDED:

PRINCIPAL MALES:

FRANK BUTLER -- The male star of the Buffalo Bill Show, excellent baritone, strong actor,
                                  (25+)  Self assured character bordering on conceited

 

CHARLIE DAVENPORT -- Manager of Buffalo Bill Show, strong comedic timing (30+)
                                  Dolly Tate’s brother and chief critic 

 

BUFFALO BILL -- Owner and emcee for the Buffalo Bill Show, good baritone (40-65+)
                                  Good showman personality

 

CHIEF SITTING BULL -- Indian chief who adopts Annie Oakley, baritone (40-70)

 

FOSTER WILSON -- Hotel Manager, baritone (40-70) strong personality with dry wit

 

PAWNEE BILL -- Owner of Far East Show, competitor of Buffalo Bill, baritone (40-70)
                                   Good showman skills

 

PRINCIPAL FEMALES:

ANNIE OAKLEY -- Famous sharpshooter, strong belter with significant range to sing soprano (19-35)
                                    Plays backwood’s character with self assurance and spunk
                                    Good comedic timing

 

DOLLY TATE -- Frank Butler’s Assistant in Buffalo Bill Show, good alto, (30+) obnoxious
                                    Personality lending herself to some hysterical moments

 

PRINCIPAL CHILDREN:

MINNIE, JESSIE, NELLIE -- Annie Oakley’s backwoods sisters, strong singers and actresses
                                   (ages vary from 7-15) should be able to show dry wit

 

LITTLE JAKE -- Annie Oakley’s brother, strong singer, good comedic timing (7-15)

 

SECONDARY ROLES (with some lines and/or small group singing):

MAC, CONDUCTOR, PORTER -- trio singing, some lines

 

SYLVIA POTTER-PORTER -- Frank Butler’s date for the Ball, lines

 

MR. & MRS. SCHUYLER ADAMS, MR. & MRS. ERNEST HENDERSON, DR. & MRS. PERCY FERGUSON --
                                     Guests at Ball, some lines

 

LARGE ENSEMBLE OF SINGERS, DANCERS, AND WILD WEST PERFORMERS:

Men, Women, Children ages 7 and older with various character roles-indians, cowhands,
                                     wild west entertainers (rope tricks, jugglers, tumblers, etc.)

For auditions, please prepare the following according to the role you are interested in:

 

Annie Oakley: Bb below middle C -- A below high C
              Songs: “Doin What Comes Natur’lly” or “You Can’t Get a Man with a Gun”
                          and “They Say It’s Wonderful”
                          Readings from script and dance audition

 

Frank Butler: 

             Songs:  “The Girl That I Marry” or “My Defenses Are Down”

                         Readings from script and dance audition

 

Charlie Davenport and Dolly Tate:
              Song:  “Colonel Buffalo Bill”
                        Readings from script and dance audition

 

Oakley Children:
              Song:  “Doin What Comes Natur’lly”
                        Readings from script and dance audition

 

Ensemble:
              Song:  “There’s No Business Like Show Business” or any song from the show
                         Readings from script and dance audition

Rehearsals begin Sunday, September 12 and are on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

We require that all cast members be at rehearsals scheduled for them, and may not miss more than 2 rehearsals.

 

During the last 2 weeks prior to performances, rehearsals are held on Sunday through Thursday to put the show together.
